* All distances and time estimates are taken from the www.viamichelin.com website, which calculates distances and projected times for cycling routes. It estimates an average speed of approximately 14km/hr.  I am aiming for an average speed of between 20-25 km/hr, amounting to about 4-5 hours cycling per day on average, and 64-80 hours in total for the entire event, though any mountains along the route might have something to say about that aspiration!
